Shilaidaha Kuthi Bari may be a place in Kumarkhali Upazila of Kushtia District in Bangladesh. The place is legendary for Kuthi Bari; a rustic house made by Dwarkanath Tagore, founding father of the Jorasanko branch of the Tagore family. Rabindranath Tagore, great Bengali poet and therefore the first non-European to win the Nobel prize in Literature, lived a neighborhood of life here and created a number of his memorable poems while living here.
In 1890 Tagore started managing their family estates in Shelaidaha. He stayed there for over a decade at irregular intervals between 1891 to 1901. During his stay here, he wrote many of his famous poems, essays and short stories. Among those a number of the masterpieces are Sonar Tari, Katha o Kahini, Chitra, Chaitali, etc.
He also translated many of his creations in English here. He also wrote here most of the poems from Naibedya, Kheya and lots of of the songs from Gitanjali and Geetimalya. it had been the place where he started translating his Gitanjali into English in 1912, which earned him the Nobel prize for literature in 1913.
